EIF Raises Fund V to Advance Sustainability and Climate Innovation

EIF V has made eight investments towards early-stage sustainability solutions across sectors including nature-based carbon, flood risk, EV fleet optimization, and sustainable agriculture

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – June 10, 2025 – Ecosystem Integrity Fund (EIF), a leading early-growth stage venture capital firm focused on sustainability, today announced the close of its fifth fund with $225 million in committed capital. The successful close of EIF V brings the firm’s total assets under management to over $650 million and reinforces its long-standing position as a leader in climate-focused investing.

EIF V has already backed eight companies driving innovation across a diverse set of climate and environmental sectors. These investments span nature-based carbon solutions, flood resilience technologies, EV fleet optimization, sustainable agriculture, and other critical areas that support both climate resilience and decarbonization.

“We are thrilled with the momentum of Fund V and the exceptional companies we’ve been able to partner with already,” said Devin Whatley, Managing Partner at EIF. “At EIF, we identify economic sectors evolving towards a cleaner, more sustainable, climate-resilient state, and then support companies accelerating that transition.”

EIF continues to invest across sectors with a focus on climate resilience and adaptation, while also addressing mitigation through renewable energy, grid management, energy efficiency, sustainable transportation, green chemistry, waste reduction, and sustainable food systems. As climate volatility intensifies, EIF’s approach centers on investing in innovations that help communities, ecosystems, and industries adapt to changing conditions while reducing long-term risk. A significant portion of the firm’s portfolio directly targets greenhouse gas reductions. These investments not only aim for environmental benefit, but also offer strong market fundamentals and long-term growth potential.

Fund V is backed by a diverse group of institutional investors, family offices, and foundations committed to climate impact and sustainability. Limited partners include McKnight Foundation, Impact Engine, Ferd Impact Investing, Illumen Capital, Mercy Investments, and Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.

“We’re serious about investing in the climate-friendly economy we know is necessary and possible, which is why we’re excited to be part of Ecosystem Integrity Fund’s latest venture,” said Nathan Wade, an Investment Officer at McKnight Foundation, “EIF invests in innovative companies across diverse sectors, from EV fleet management and solar financing to flood insurance and AI-powered waste optimization.”

With more than 15 years of experience, EIF is one of the most established firms dedicated to climate innovation, combining sustainability analysis with a pragmatic investment approach to help build enduring companies with meaningful impact.
